a music workshop for young artists

Do you love music? Want to work in a fun, fast-paced industry? If you are interested in learning more about being a professional musician, manager, promoter, producer, marketer or record label, this workshop is for you.  

Sean McManus and Michael Petkau will tell you how make your hobby into a profession - about playing and promoting gigs, making demo recordings, marketing and publicity, and taking care of business. This workshop will give you a chance to ask questions about the music business and learn what it takes to be a musician, producer, or show promoter. 

Michael Petkau is a producer, studio owner, and musician. Michael plays in the Winnipeg bands Les Jupes and The Liptonians, runs Head in the Sand Records and is the creative force behind the Record of the Week Club.

Sean McManus is the training coordinator at Manitoba Music. Sean also plays in the band the Dust Poets and is a freelance web designer.
