Mi Yâ Wa Ta

Mi Yâ Wa Ta (Celebrate!) is a mobile Youth Club that operates for 8 weeks, 2 hours each week at City of Winnipeg Youth Action Centres. It is a program that honours the voices of youth and Elders, and the spirit of our community. It will focus on celebrating youth, increasing Aboriginal cultural awareness and increasing involvement in physical activity. It is an initiative of Oshki Annishinabe Nigaaniwak (Aboriginal Young People Leading) which is the City of Winnipeg’s Aboriginal Youth Strategy.

Mi Yâ Wa Ta will run from the first week in February until the last week in March 2010. It will include guest speakers each week as well as opportunities for youth to be heard and to lead. The topics covered will range from Dream Catcher Teachings, to Hoop Dancing, to Hip Hop to Volleyball and more. This is a chance for the youth to tell us exactly what they want.
