TODDLER’S DAY OUT PROGRAM : Tuesdays & Fridays 12:30 – 3:30 pm.

 

This program is designed to meet  the needs of pre-school families with infants and children from the ages of 18 mths to 4 years old, this program is to help your child to interact with other children their own age, and also for parents to interact with them and also to get to know other parents and share their thoughts and ideas. Lots of room for your child to play and run around , there is a community parent that runs the program along with her little boy, the program provides all sorts of toys and some crafts, story time , snack time and teaches your child the importance of cleanliness and to clean up and put toys away, it teaches them to work together with other children.

HOMEWORK/COMPUTER PROGRAM :  Mon. – Fri. 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

 

This program is designed to help children with their homework. The teachers send home an agenda book with their homework and if the child needs help in doing it, whether it be math or reading, the program is here to provide them with the help they need.  It also helps them with improving their computer skills, such as writing essays or stories, even searching the web for help researching or writing resumes. The program has two mentors supervising the kids, one high school student and one college student.  Once their work is done they are allowed to play games on the computer or learn some computer skills.  Other kids are allowed to go on the computers with the supervision of the mentors to use the internet and play games.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM:  Mon. –  Fri. 3:30 – 5:00 pm.

 

This program is designed for kids, ages 7 to 12 whose parents for one reason or another are not home at 3:30. This program runs most days except holidays and in-service days.  All children are served a snack, usually cookies and juice. After snack, a variety of activities are planned and children are given a choice as to what they want to do.  Activities include sports such as badminton, floor hockey, basketball and dodge ball. Other activities include crafts, coloring, movies and games. There is no horseplay or running around allowed.  Children are required to be inside the building and participating in an activity.  No supervision outside the building.

CRAFT PROGRAM:  Tues. & Thurs. 5:00 – 8:00 pm.

 

This is a program that the children /youth enjoy doing, making all sorts of crafts from holiday to seasonal, eg. key chains, pop bottle dolls, butterflies, papier-mβchι’ flowers, jewelry, foam and paper crafts , decorations, etc. This program is open to all children /youth ages 7 to 16.  Parents are welcome to come and volunteer.

DROP-IN PROGRAM:  Mon. – Fri. 5:00 – 9:00 pm.

 

The drop-in program is run by two City of Winnipeg Youth Rec. Tec. Workers. The drop-in program is for youth who wish to play a sport or activity in the gym. There are different sport activities on our monthly calendar and also open gym for those who just want to play a sport of their preference.  We also offer board games, Nintendo Wii games and coloring. During the winter months we offer skating from 5:00 – 7:00 ages 7 to 12 and from 7:00 – 9:00 pm. ages 13 and up. Norquay also lends out skates for free.  We strongly urge parents to come out to the centre with their kids to help with putting on skates and supervising the rink.  The centre does not have outdoor supervision. All children 10 and under must go home at 7:00 pm. For safety reasons.

NEW PROGRAM (MI YA WA TA)  Wednesday  6:00 – 8:00 pm.

 

Mi Ya Wa Ta is an 8 week program that celebrates Aboriginal culture, recreation and youth leadership. It will take place all over the

City, and each Mi Ya Wa Ta (celebration) will be different. There will be guest teachers, snacks and an Elder on site once a week for 8 weeks.

New Guitar Program  Mondays 4:00 – 5:30 & Fridays 4:00 – 5:30 Beginners 5:30 – 7:00pm.

 

If your child/children are interested in learning to play the guitar, have them come to the program, it’s free of charge,  we supply the guitars and any other equipment needed. No need to register ahead, just bring your child and have them try it, they may surprise themselves and realize that they like it and that they actually may have a gift for it.
