Our Mission Statement

PACT is a program of peer support, individual advocacy and classroom discussion for parents of children who are in care of CFS agencies. We work together to find positive ways in dealing with our many issues that have resulted in our children being in the care of CFS. We come together in weekly meetings in a sharing circle as well as classroom setting where we will talk about our situations, and how to go about dealing with them in positive ways.

NAG Petition Drive 2009

(Door to Door November 29-December 11)               2009-01

I 100% Support the dismantling of the Authorities and repealing the Authorities Act. Of Manitoba due to discrimination and the complete failure of "Devolution" through the Act. This Act has done more harm than good. I support National Aboriginal Child Welfare Legislation to replace the current child welfare system. This will set standards and fix funding. I do not support the "I am a witness tribunal." More money will not fix the current unresolved issues!

• as the Province of Manitoba has enacted legislation to a group (Status Indians) it has no jurisdiction over, and Canada has abandoned it's fiduciary obligation to aboriginal peoples rights

• there is an approximately ratio of 80% to 20% Status to non-status in the child welfare system.

• as the Province had invested approximately, $268 million in expenditures for child welfare in 2007, and the only Federal money are transfer payments through CTB and UCB (roughly $30 million) snatched from families already being exploited. (This money should have been spent on reinvesting in families through the Differential Response model. Not operations eg; more social workers!)
