The PDRC Housing Committee is run by a group of volunteers working with the Point Douglas Residents Committee. The Housing Committee addresses issues of concern regarding housing in our community and works with various organizations and agencies toward a long-term housing plan for the area. Housing Issues in North Point Douglas PDRC is updating the 5-year housing plan this Fall. There will be a series of community consultation to gather residents’ input for the plan. Email us at pdrc@pointdouglas.ca if you are interested in helping us update the housing plan. The PDRC Housing Committee keeps track of houses that are in poor repair, and reports can be made anonymously by neighbourhood residents. We report concerns to the City and also may contact landlords if that will not negatively impact tenants. You can report houses that are in poor repair through: Power Line (email point.powerline@yahoo.com, phone 956-4090); or Housing Committee email pdrc@pointdouglas.ca , phone 927-3827 You can also report concerns to the City yourself by calling 311. If you do, we ask that you let the Housing Committee or Powerline know so we can track what is reported and the City's response. The TLC program promotes cooperation between tenants and landlords. Email pdrc@pointdouglas.ca for more information. Exterior fix-up grants are also available in the Spring for homeowners and landlords. Some of the programs are for lower income families and some are for any income. You can find out more by emailing pdrc@pointdouglas.ca or calling us at 927-3827. The Housing Committee would like to invite residents to provide their input on housing issues and plans for the future. Please contact the Point Douglas Residents Committee office at 927-3827 or email them at pdrc@pointdouglas.ca to share your ideas and concerns.
