Introducing the new Urban Canvas Program at Graffiti Gallery!

Graffiti Art Programming (GAP) is pleased to announce the launch of a newly designed Urban Canvas Program (UCP) for Aboriginal adults aged 18-32.  In partnership with Centre for Aboriginal Human Resource Development (CAHRD), the new UCP builds on GAP’s past successes supporting and training marginalized artists.

The new Urban Canvas Program is a pre-employment training program and will provide labour market skills training, incorporating Mural Art skills into the formal Apprenticeship Manitoba process for Painters/Decorators.

Journeyman Painter/Decorators earn, on average, $24 per hour.  Twelve spaces are available for immediate intake into this program.  Please share this valuable learning and career development opportunity with your contacts.

For more information please see details below and/or contact:

Are you interested in acting in plays and movies?
MTYP is pleased to offer FREE acting, performing and film training classes to Winnipeg’s Aboriginal youth. If you are between the ages of 12 and 18 and are interested in learning about film and theatre with Native Theatre Artist Columpa C. Bobb, call us for more information! We offer a number of classes in theater and film throughout the year. MTYP is located at The Forks.

Are you looking for an opportunity to work as a mentor?
We are also looking for older teens to give their time and talent in our classrooms and at theatre events. If you want a chance to learn valuable skills that you can use in future endeavors please contact us.

Through our mentorship program, we provide employment guidance for young adults interested in pursuing a career in the arts.

Registration is still being taken for the Aboriginal Arts Training & Mentorship program at Manitoba Theatre for Young People (MTYP). There are spots still left in some of the free drama classes that we offer and we want to make sure that our Aboriginal youth can take full advantage of this. As the classes are free, they are filled on a first come, first served basis.

MTYP offers FREE year-round weekly classes in theatre, film and related arts to Winnipeg’s Aboriginal teens, ages 12 to 19. Act, tell stories, laugh and enjoy learning with established theatre artists.

To register or for more information, call 947-0394 ext. 246, or email: aboriginalarts@mtyp.ca . Ask us how we can help you arrange transportation to and from class.
